NEUROINFLAMMATION AND NEURODEGENERATION IN NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS: MOLECULAR BIOMARKERS, NEURONAL EXCITABILITY, AND IMPLICATIONS FOR SEIZURE ASSESSMENT

Abstract
Inflammation, neuronal injury and neurodegeneration occur across
distinct neurological diseases and can converge on pathways regulating synaptic
transmission and neuronal excitability. Yet an association between inflammatory
biomarkers and Parkinsonian pathology is not equivalent to validation of a seizure
biomarker.
